DISCO’s corporate activities are oriented toward realization of its perpetual goal, "Mission:
Bringing science to comfortable living through advanced "Kiru", "Kezuru" and "Migaku"
technologies"". In this context, it has set "DISCO VISION" as a milestone which describes how the Company should look
in 2010.
 |
"DISCO VISION" illustrates "what DISCO should be" in 2010, based on the vision from the
future. Without depending on the quantitative index, such as sales figures or profit rates, it sets the targeted picture
of DISCO from six aspects which constitute the corporate activities.
These six aspects (visions) are closely related to each other. For example, in order to successfully accomplish "Business
vision", the accomplishment of "Economic vision" is also required. And to accomplish "Economic vision", the accomplishment
of "Human Resources vision" is indispensable.
Therefore, to achieve DISCO VISION, we regularly confirm to what extent each vision has been accomplished, and set specific goals for every fiscal year as a milestone. The results of customer/supplier/employee satisfaction surveys are used as a measurement to correctly grasp the quality of our corporate activities.
DISCO VISION consists of visions in six different aspects. Two of them are as follows.
Business Vision: Besides abrasive technology, several other "Kiru", "Kezuru", "Migaku" technologies
have become the pillars of our business.
Abrasive technology is a technology of processing that uses dicing blades and grinding wheels, which we have been focusing since our establishment in 1937.
As DISCO aims to be a specialist of advanced "Kiru", "Kezuru" and "Migaku" technologies, we are developing new pillars of
business such as laser, water jet and other technologies, apart from abrasive technology.
Economic Vision: DISCO has sufficient economic competence and structure to realize growth as a
corporation; DISCO maintains a non-consolidated ordinary income margin of 20% or more, averaged over 4 years.
"Sufficient potential for economic performance" refers to the ability to maintain high margin
by providing high value-added products and services. And "satisfactory economic structure" refers to the financial
strength which enables continuous investment for growth, whatever the circumstances.
The semiconductor industry to
which DISCO’s business belongs is characterized by a "silicon cycle", a market fluctuation of 3 to 5 year cycle. We
consider data "averaged over 4 years" is better suited than a single year basis data for the accurate monitoring of
situations and for building strong structure in whatever the market situations.
